Hello! Its a lovely stormy Tuesday here in Kansas. And I am not going to lie I 100% forgot about the post yesterday. I was super excited about going to see Captain Marvel, which was amazing. 🙂

So, let’s talk comics! I have only read 1 Marvel comic, Ms. Marvel Vol 1. I have Vol 2 I am going to pick up after I finish my current book. I did not realize there were already like 10 of these and I really need to get on that!

Other comics/graphic novels I’ve read- which there aren’t that many different ones- I Hate Fairyland, Rick and Morty, Fables, Monstress, Saga, and Paper Girls. I also just bought/read the very first volume in the Steel Prince Series by VE Schwab.

I Hate Fairyland consists of 4 volumes -it is complete- all about Gertrude who gets stuck in Fairyland for 30 years! It has lots of cursing and is definitely a Mature read.

Cover for I Hate Fairyland Issue 9.

Rick and Morty are just volumes that spin off of the TV show, pretty self explanatory.

Fables is great! I wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first but I am 7 books in and still have like 7(or more) to go. But, it is just about how the Fables live in NYC, in their own little neighborhood, and they also have a farm for fables that cannot change to look like humans. It is also pretty mature, there is nudity and cursing.

Fables Book 1

Monstress … I’m not even really sure what is going on in this series. There is a girl, a cat thing, and a little fox girl… The main girl(not fox girl) has some sort of extra life-form inside of her that can/will destroy her… the cat-thing has like 6 tails, and fox girl is just the cutest little like 10 year old with the ears and tail of a fox. Obviously there is more than that, but… I should really re-read it because I really only have the inkling of a clue as to what is going on in this world.

Monstress Issue 14

Saga and Paper Girls both are written by Brian K Vaughn. Saga was the very first comic I picked up and I read the entire first book in less than an hour! I was super engrossed. Paper Girls … not as good but it isn’t even close to the same type of story Saga is. I would recommend them both. Don’t even read reviews because everything is a spoiler.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday! I am just lounging around, cleaning up a bit and going to rearrange my bookshelves.

So this year I have been doing something different with my TBR. Instead of just staring at my shelves until something looks good, or picking a number and then another number to narrow down to a shelf and then to a particular book I have been actually picking out my books ahead of time! :O Ive actually never done this before, unless I bought a book then I usually just pick it up right then. So, at the beginning of every month I’ll share with you what I plan on reading.

This month I started out finishing Dear Martin by Nic Stone, but I finished that right after I woke up on the 1st. Now I am reading The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige. Hopefully I will finish that in the next day or too, it is pretty short, under 300 pages. After that here is what I plan on reading.

So I have 4 books more books for the month plus an extra just in case. But I am also getting the Shades of Magic comic/graphic novel tomorrow so that will be on there as well. I plan on reading Ms. Marvel Vol 2, The Rook, Treacherous Love and The Phantom Tollbooth. And This Savage Song will be a reward if I finish all of those other books, or my first book of April.

How do you choose your next book? Let me know in the comments! You can also follow me on everything! I am RyeAnnUh on Litsy and @postivityandbooks on Insta!

Happy Monday! I am not actually sure a happy Monday is a thing. Lol. But on this Monday (February 25) it is 58 degrees (F) here in Kansas. The only nice day we are going to get for the next week. So, since I am going to be staying inside for awhile I thought today’s post would be about hobbies!

I have a few hobbies besides reading. I recently (about a year ago) picked up crochet. I am still a beginner, aka not very good. But slowly getting better.

My current WIP. Hairpin Lace Scarf

When it is nice out (40+ F) I have started running. I used to work out every day inside but I moved from a house to an apt and I don’t have enough room to do workouts in my place so I have been running 2.5+km.

I have a few TV shows I keep up with. Game of Thrones (of course!), I’m Sorry (hilariously inappropriate), Shameless, Bob’s Burgers, Rick and Morty, The Big Bang Theory, and a few more… But that is a few of them.

Rick and Morty

Last but not least this Blog! I love writing this every Monday! Even if I don’t always prepare properly. I love getting to know all of you readers and I hope you are having fun getting to know me. Until next week everyone!

Hello, all you wonderful people. I hope everyone is staying warm in this crazy winter weather we are having here in the mid-west.

So I totally forgot today was Monday because I had the day off of work for President’s day. So I’ve been super lazy all day. And I didn’t know what I was going to write about until just 2 seconds ago. 😀

I want to talk about books that I have pre-ordered already! Everything exciting coming out!

So far this year I have preordered:

Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi– the sequel to Children of Blood and Bone (Out June 4, 2019).

Shades of Magic Vol 1: The Steel Prince by V E Schwab– this is the graphic novel of her Darker Shades of Magic series (Out March 5, 2019).

Rick and Morty Vol 9 by Kyle Starks– This is the comic version of the TV Show (Out June 25, 2019).

Defy Me by Tehereh Mafi– #5 in the Shatter Me series (Out April 2, 2019).

Broken Throne by Victoria Aveyard– A set of novellas from the Red Queen series, also includes the 2 previously published novellas Cruel Crown (Out May 7, 2019).

The Shadowglass by Rin Chupeco– #3 in the Bone Witch series (Out March 5, 2019).

The Institute by Stephen King. A standalone novel that I’m not quite sure what genre it falls into, but it sounds amazing. (Out September 10, 2019)

And one that I should have pre-ordered but it somehow passed me by was Lady Smoke by Laura Sebastian– #2 in the Ash Princess trilogy(? I think its a trilogy). That came out Feb 5, 2019. But I just got it last Tuesday the 12th.

What books are you all excited about? I know there are lots more that are coming out that I am excited for, like the next Stalking Jack the Ripper novel but I have’t read Escaping from Houdini yet so I haven’t pre-ordered it. I also did not pre-order On the Come Up by Angie Thomas but I bought that the day after it came out. I am also super excited for the sequel to An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green. Drop a comment below so I can get excited with you about your favorite books/series!

This book deals with drug abuse so if you have triggers with that, here is your warning.

Hello my fellow readers! This is coming at you a day late because I’ve been sick with a … you know, it doesn’t really matter. Today we are talking serious stuff.

Go Ask Alice by Anonymous(Beatrice Sparks) is a diary of a girl (Alice) who went to a party and someone laced her drink with LSD. And it is just her dealing with the trauma of that and what happens after you are addicted to drugs.

There are at least 9 of these books all dealing with different illnesses/diseases. I have 6 of them. I was obsessed with this kind of realistic fiction after I read Alice’s story. Go Ask Alice was originally released around 1971 and I think these stories only get more relevant as time goes. I have personally never been in a position to be drugged or even really try them so reading about it really hit hard.

There isn’t a whole bunch to say about this book besides if you have someone in your life who needs a wakeup call then you should definitely give this to them. If it isn’t a drug problem the other books deal with eating disorders, depression, bullying, coming out, and prostitution.

And…. while I was writing this I bought the other ones Beatrice edited in this ‘series’. 😀

I will list out all of the books in the Tradition of Go Ask Alice I have found and hopefully you will find one you like or can help someone in need.
