Hello. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Did you watch the Superbowl? (if not, it was super boring!) I have a twofer for you today, since I didn’t post last week. I am starting to workout again and get myself on a better eating schedule… We will see how long that lasts. But today I am going to show you my first book haul of the year (which was what I was going to post last week) and my February reading list. 🙂
Here is my book haul!
I grabbed these amazing books when Barnes and Nobles was having a 50% off sale! Everything there was less than $70. The Selection series, A Very Large Expanse of Sea, Damsel, Grim Lovelies, and Escaping from Houdini. I don’t know much about .. all but Escaping from Houdini. Lol. But they are popular and were on sale.
And this is what I plan to read this month! I completed about 5 books in January so I am hoping I can get through all of these. I am already about 100 pages into Mother Knows Best. And I can’t wait to dive back into Amy’s Oz and see what happens next.
What is on your tbr this month? Any new exciting books you are looking forward too?
I am sitting here thinking about what to write because I didn’t plan it out. I have been super busy this last week and now I’m stuck. I stayed up for the Blood Moon last night and I kind of just want to finish my book and watch TV and do absolutely nothing today but I am here. I know I have readers that check this out every Monday so I am not going to just not show up.
But this week will be about you! Instead of me trying to come up with something in my exhausted state. What books are you looking forward to in 2019? Any new series, series continuations? Anything I need to read right now!? Lol. I have so many unread books on my shelves, but of course, I am always looking for more. What else do you all like to do in your free time?
Any new(or old) TV shows I should be watching? I just binged my first show this year, and my binged I think the longest I watched for was like 4 hours but… whatever. You on Netflix! I really want to get that book now. Its by Caroline Kepnes, if anyone has read it and also watched the show I would love a comparison before I pick it up. I am currently in the middle of a Game of Thrones re-watch before it all ends in April.
Well lets open this up! Comment below or email me firstname.lastname@example.org and lets chat! I am so up for just talking books/tv/hobbies whatever with all of you!
I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I am sorry I was supposed to be back last week but I had a death in the family, so… Yea. But it happens and we all learn to live.
So today I am not reviewing another book I am going to show you everything I read last year! And list my top 5. I am not going to list everything because… well thats alot! Lol. 76 to be exact. I think thats the most I have read in a year.
Vicious by V E Schwab
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
Heartless by Marissa Meyer
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green
The Storyteller by Traci Chee
Okok. There are six. It was really hard to narrow down. Others that almost made it were A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sara J Maas, Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. I can’t wait to see what all books I am going to read this year. I already have quite a few pre-ordered!
What are all of you looking forward to ? Any new year’s book resolutions? I am starting a new way I choose my books to read. At the beginning of the month I am choosing my TBR list for that month. I used to …just pick one that looks good, or sometimes I’d number my shelves then roll a die and pick something on that shelf. Lol. So, that’s my new year resolution for my books.
If you are looking for a great realistic romance novel this is a great choice.
Perfect Chemistry is set in a smaller town where if you were born on the wrong side of the tracks you are either poor or a drug dealer. Everyone knows that. When Brittany is paired up with Alex there is going to be trouble. Brittany is a good white girl from the North side and Alex is a mexican with a reputation. From the second they meet in Chemistry class there are sparks.
Obviously since this is a romance you can probably guess how it ends but reliving that high school experience was crazy for me. There are best friends, crazy gangs, backstabbing, and sleepovers. Now I went to a teeny tiny high school (22 kids in my graduating class). So I didn’t have near any of the drama as was in this book so that is probably a good thing. But I love reading about it.
There are 3 books in this series and all 3 focus on different characters. Rules of Attraction focuses on Alex’s middle brother, Carlos in Colorado. And the last book Chain Reaction focuses on Alex’s youngest brother, Luis. So they all intertwine with each other but I don’t think you have to read them in order.
Quote: “This is Brittany Ellis … This summer she went to the mall, bought new clothes so she could expand her wardrobe, and spent her daddy’s money on plastic surgery to enhance her, ahem, assets. Her secret desire is to date a Mexicano before she graduates.” -Alex
This is the first Scott Westerfeld book I have read. The Uglies have been sitting on my shelf for a few years now but I just haven’t ever picked it up. I got this on clearance at B&N. It was super cheap and once I saw it was a book in a book I had to have it!
So it is about a girl named Darcy who started writing a book (Afterworlds) her junior/senior year of high school and got a book deal! Darcy then moves to NYC with her big fat check from the publisher and finds out how the real world is. While in her book Lizzie is in the middle of a terrorist attack and wills her way into the afterworld.
That is a pretty short synopsis but with how the book is alternating chapters between the real world and Darcys book it is difficult not to give too much away. I have heard about books about books but never a book within a book. It was fantastic and I want more! Like, seriously if you know about any books with books in them I want to read them! 😀
This book gave a pretty nice and clear picture of what it would be like to live in NYC with a fat bank account, and the struggles with keeping that bank account in check. Darcy has a sister that helps her with her accounting and I love that. With her account and not having a real job(getting a paycheck every week or so) she has to ask her sister what her budget is like if she spends $X to go out to eat, or buy a new plant. It give the book that extra realistic feel to it.
The copy I have also has a deleted chapter which is cool but its Chapter 4… So you read both the books then go to the end and try to remember exactly what was happening at chapter 4 to figure out why it was deleted and what changed. Lol. But I also like that, having a look into the rough draft.
I picked this book up just because it was called the reader to be 100% honest. I was thinking it was going to be about a girl who loves to read and get lost in all of these stories. I don’t know. I was COMPLETELY wrong! Lol. (picture was found on Google.)
THE LAST BOOK IN THE SERIES COMES OUT TOMORROW! 11/13/18! I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀
This book takes place in Kelanna (and it has a map! 😀 ) In a world where there are no books, no one knows history except the stories that are passed down by word of mouth. Sefia has been entrusted her entire life, since her parents died, to keep a book safe. She doesn’t know what it is or where it came from; all she knows is that it can never leave her sight and she can never let it be taken from her. Sefia is traveling with Nin, an old lady her parents knew. For 6 years they have been kept out of sight, for 6 years they have been safe.
One reason I love this book is how much there is to it! I thought I had gotten a damaged copy because there were ink marks on pages but when it kept happening I knew that was just part of the book. Plus you have to keep your eye on the page count! I know, that usually is a bad thing but there are words next to some of the numbers! So awesome!
I took this book with me to Arizona for a job interview and it got damaged in my luggage! So sad. Not too badly, but a shampoo bottle exploded and I was lucky I had brought back up clothes. I do want to get a hardback of this because I have hardbacks of the next two (well, this will be up a day before the final book is out).
This is the first David Levithan book I ever picked up. And after reading this and all sequels to it I just want to pick up everything he has ever written.
So Every Day (if you haven’t seen the movie) is about a person that switches bodies everyday. They keep to themselves and never want to mess anything up for the person they are in. Until A (that’s what they call themselves) meets Rhiannon. They, and I say they because A does not consider itself a he/she at all, fall in love and A at first does whatever he can to see her. And on the love story goes. There is a lot going on in this besides just a love story.
There are now 3 total books in this series. The second one is the first book from Rihannon’s point of view so its’s more of a companion than a sequel. The third is an actual sequel- Someday- and gets so many different points of view! I loved the third one so much!
But we are talking about the first one. I loved this book as well, and the movie was pretty awesome too. The movie just doesn’t have the same feel as the book because sure you get to see all the people A is becoming but there aren’t any thoughts to read through(or hear) and just… movie’s are different. Lol.
