Wish

I love some books with pictures in them. This series I just flew through. I love fairies and monsters and other worlds. So this was right up my alley.

wish

It focuses on Lucy and Soli, two best friends for as long as they can remember. They live in a little town next to Willow Forest. There are stories of another world in the forest and to never make a wish in the forest. Why? Because they faeries will grant it. This is a great story about friends growing up together and growing apart and back together again. Lucy makes a wish in the woods and is taken into the faerie land. And Soli has to find her inner strength to save her best friend.

As I said at the beginning this book does have pictures and lots of them. It makes the reading go by super quick. It is aimed more at a younger audience than Young Adult, maybe 5th grade level. But that is not a reason to not read it. The art is fantastic and the writing just pulls you right in.

There are 3 books in this series. I am pretty sure there are companion books to it but the story is told over the main trilogy.

Harry Potter

So… This is super! Backlist. 20 years in fact. But I just got my new 20th anniversary edition in so I am writing about Harry. Have you seen these new covers? I love love love how they all intertwine with one another. I set them all out on the couch a took a picture. 😀

I know I don’t need a synopsis of Harry Potter because… Who hasn’t read them by now? I am actually going through and listening to them on audio right now. I am on book 5. I think I started listening to them around… sometime last year. I follow along with a podcast so I only listen to one chapter a week so its pretty slow going. If you are into podcasts it’s called Harry Potter and the Sacred Text (I’ll put a link below). They – there are 2 hosts, Casper and Vanessa – treat the text as a sacred one, like how religions treat the Bible basically. Its super interesting and funny.

But since I don’t have a synopsis… I guess I will tell you my thoughts on Harry Potter. I honestly do not remember reading the first three books. But I know I did. I also know my grandma bought them(the first three books) so when all of us grandkids (there are only like 4 of us) came over she could read them to us. But… I don’t think that ever happened. Lol. I read the last one, The Deathly Hallows, when I was a junior in High School, around 2010. So I wasn’t too far behind the release date. It, honestly, took me forever to read. A couple of months actually. I loved the Half-Blood Prince and just couldn’t get over Dumbledore (still no spoilers). And… Then Dobby!? I mean just cry fest. But I got through it. And this is only my second time listening/reading/ingesting them and I just can’t believe how much I missed!

Of course, I can’t write a post without tell you all that I am a Slytherin, and I am proud of it. 😀 Also, my Ilvermorny house is Pukwudgie. My patronus is an Osprey – which is a type of bird, also called a sea hawk. My wand is Pine wood with a Phoenix feather core 12 ¼” and Quite Bendy flexibility. Now, I haven’t explored Pottermore much but I did take the quizzes and those were my results.
