About Looking Glass Books

Welcome to Looking Glass Books, your destination for classical and contemporary literature.  I've loved reading the classics since childhood, and still do! My favourite fiction books growing up were the Wizard of Oz, Black Beauty and The Neverending Story; progressing obviously to an adult infatuation with Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte and there is also a special place in my heart for Anna Karenina.  Owning a bookshop has been a dream of mine for over 20 years it feels like a natural progression for me to run a bookshop that specialises in offering a thoughtfully curated collection of classic and contemporary fiction.  After studying History and English Literature at Macquarie University, Sydney in the early 2000's, I worked for several years in administration before leaving the workforce for good in 2010 to look after my children at home.  The idea for an online bookshop came to me in the changing economic landscape in the aftermath of 2020, and thus Looking Glass Books was founded on a true love for beautiful classic texts combined with my desire to share my love of books with the world.  I'd love to open a physical store one day, that idea is still in the pipeline, but for now you can have 24/7 access to my offering of all your classic favourites by Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Tolstoy, Dickens to name but a few.
