Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë is a Gothic novel set on the remote Yorkshire moors, chronicling the tumultuous relationships and destructive passions of two families: the Earnshaws and the Lintons.  Heathcliff, an orphan taken in by the Earnshaw family, and Catherine Earnshaw form an intense bond, however Catherine chooses to marry Edgar Linton, a refined neighbor, for social status.
